Replace an Outdated or Unsafe Electrical Panel With the Right Service Capacity

Your electrical panel controls how power moves through the entire property. When it is outdated, damaged, undersized, overloaded, or no longer safe to repair, replacing the panel is often the best way to restore reliable power and prepare the building for modern electrical demand.

Exceptional Electric provides electrical panel replacement in Kirkwood, Arnold, and nearby St. Louis communities. We replace aging breaker panels, outdated fuse boxes, damaged panels, full panels with no room for new circuits, and panels that are no longer a good fit for the way the property is used.

Before recommending a replacement, our electricians review the existing panel, breaker condition, service capacity, grounding and bonding, visible wiring concerns, future load needs, and whether related work such as electrical panel upgrades, code corrections, or electrical safety inspections should be part of the project.

Repair vs. Replacement, 100 Amp vs. 200 Amp, and Code-Safe Installation

Not every panel problem requires a full replacement. Some issues can be handled with electrical panel repair, breaker replacement, or wiring correction. Other problems point to a panel that should be replaced, especially when there is corrosion, heat damage, a worn bus bar, obsolete equipment, repeated breaker failures, a fuse box, or not enough capacity for current electrical loads.

Exceptional Electric explains the difference before work begins. We help you understand whether the property needs a properly sized replacement panel, a 200 amp upgrade, a subpanel, new dedicated circuits, or supporting repairs tied to the existing wiring.

During panel replacement, our electricians focus on safe shutdown, careful removal of the old equipment, proper panel installation, breaker matching, circuit labeling, grounding and bonding checks, and code-aware workmanship from start to finish.

Replace the Panel Before New Electrical Demand Creates Bigger Problems

Many panel replacements happen when a property is being updated. A kitchen remodel, finished basement, new HVAC equipment, EV charger, hot tub, workshop, addition, or generator plan can expose the limits of an older panel.

Do Not Keep Relying on a Panel That Is Damaged, Undersized or Full

A weak electrical panel can become more than an inconvenience. If the panel is hot, buzzing, rusty, scorched, frequently tripping, full of tandem breakers, still using fuses, or unable to support the circuits you need, schedule service with a licensed electrician.

Exceptional Electric can inspect the panel, explain whether replacement is the right move, and help plan the work so your home or business has safer, more reliable electrical distribution for the way you use the property now.

I hired Exceptional Electric to install a ceiling fan (replacing old) and run a number of highspeed networking wires in my home. It took a few days doe to the data runs routing them up a wall thru the attic then down another wall and into the basement where I manage the end points. I am very happy with the work done.

This company was sent by my home warranty company so I didn’t pay them directly, but Sage was very professional and efficient. I would highly recommend Exceptional Electric. The technician that came back to install the ceiling fan did an excellent job with the installation and clean up. He even swept up the mess after himself which I truly appreciated!

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about electrical panel replacement, fuse box replacement, 100 amp and 200 amp panels, permits, breaker capacity, new circuits, or when replacement makes more sense than repair? Here are answers homeowners and businesses usually need before scheduling service.

An electrical panel may need replacement when it is outdated, damaged, corroded, scorched, buzzing, overheating, repeatedly tripping, out of breaker space, or no longer able to support the property’s electrical demand. Replacement is also common before remodels, additions, major appliance upgrades, EV chargers, hot tubs, or generator work.

They are closely related, but not always the same. Panel replacement means removing the old panel and installing a new panel. An electrical panel upgrade may also increase the service capacity, such as moving from 100 amps to 200 amps, when the property needs more available power.

In many older properties, replacing a fuse box with a modern circuit breaker panel is the safer long-term choice. Fuse boxes can be inconvenient, limited in capacity, and poorly matched to today’s electrical loads. A licensed electrician can inspect the system and explain whether fuse box replacement, wiring correction, or additional code work is needed.

Yes, when the panel and service capacity are properly planned. Exceptional Electric can review the load needs for EV charger installation, hot tub circuits, HVAC equipment, kitchen remodels, workshops, additions, and other high-demand projects before recommending the right panel setup.

The process usually includes inspecting the existing panel, planning the replacement, safely shutting down power, removing the old equipment, installing the new panel, matching breakers to the circuits, labeling circuits, checking grounding and bonding, and testing the system. Some projects also require utility coordination, permits, or inspection steps.

Panel replacement often involves permit and inspection requirements because the work affects the main distribution point for the electrical system. Requirements can vary by municipality and project scope. Exceptional Electric handles panel replacement with code-aware workmanship and can identify related code corrections or safety inspection concerns.

Yes. Exceptional Electric provides electrical panel replacement for residential properties and light commercial spaces in Kirkwood, Arnold, St. Louis County, Jefferson County, and nearby communities. We can also review related needs such as dedicated circuits, breaker changes, subpanels, surge protection, wiring repairs, and future equipment plans.
