Des Peres homeowners expect their homes to keep up with how they live, and Exceptional Electric has helped them do exactly that since 2004. The larger, higher-end homes throughout Des Peres carry electrical demands a standard build never anticipated, and our licensed master and journeyman electricians are equipped for that kind of work — from a whole-home generator to a full service upgrade, all of it done to Missouri code the first time.
The challenge in Des Peres usually isn’t failing wiring so much as a home that has outgrown its original electrical capacity. A finished lower level, a pool, a backyard kitchen, two EVs in the garage, and a bank of landscape lighting all draw power the builder never planned for, and at some point the existing service simply runs out of room. We size and modernize your electrical system to match the home you actually live in, and we do the higher-complexity work — standby generators, pool and spa circuits, subpanels for additions — that many electricians would rather pass on.

Electrical Services We Provide in Des Peres
Whatever the electrical need, there’s a good chance we handle it. Our Des Peres customers call us most often for:
- Whole-Home Standby Generators — A permanently installed standby generator keeps a larger Des Peres home — sump pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, and all — running through an outage without a second thought.
- Pool, Spa & Hot Tub Circuits — Dedicated, code-compliant, properly bonded circuits for pools, in-ground spas, and hot tubs, wired for safety around water.
- Landscape & Outdoor Lighting — Low-voltage lighting for the larger, wooded lots common in Des Peres, from driveway and path lighting to architectural and security fixtures.
- EV Charger Installation — Level 2 charging installed cleanly, including multi-vehicle setups, with a load calculation to confirm your service can carry it.
- Panel & Service Upgrades — When a home’s added load outpaces its panel, we upgrade to 200 amps or more and add subpanels for additions, workshops, and detached structures.
- Wiring for Remodels & Additions — New circuits and full wiring for high-end remodels, room additions, and finished lower levels.
- Whole-Home Surge Protection — A larger home holds a lot of expensive electronics. A panel-mounted surge protector guards all of it against Missouri storms.
- Breaker & Circuit Repair — A breaker that keeps tripping is telling you something. We find the cause instead of just resetting it.
- Ceiling Fans & Lighting — Fixture installation, recessed lighting, LED upgrades, and fans installed and balanced right.
- Electrical Safety Inspections — Buying or selling a Des Peres home? We’ll inspect the system and give you a clear, honest report.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer emergency electrical service in Des Peres?
Yes. Electrical emergencies don’t keep business hours, and neither do we. Call (636) 296-7789 and we’ll get a technician dispatched to your Des Peres home as quickly as possible.
Can you install a whole-home standby generator?
Yes. Whole-home standby generators are one of our most requested installations in Des Peres. We size the unit to your home’s actual load, install the transfer switch, and coordinate the gas and electrical connections so the system takes over automatically when the power goes out.
I’m adding a pool, an EV charger, and a finished basement. Does my home need a service upgrade?
Often, yes. Each of those adds significant load, and stacking several onto an existing panel can exceed what your current service was designed to carry. We perform a load calculation before any work begins and tell you plainly whether your panel can handle the addition or whether an upgrade is the smarter move.
How much does it cost to upgrade an electrical panel in Des Peres?
Cost depends on your current service, the amperage you’re moving to, and whether the meter and service entrance need work. We give you a firm, itemized quote before any work begins, so you’ll know the full price up front.
Are your electricians licensed?
Every job is performed or supervised by licensed electricians who meet Missouri’s standards, including master and journeyman electricians for panel, service, and code work.
Can you help with financing?
We do. Through our financing partner, you can spread the cost of larger projects over time. Ask us about it when you schedule.
